Giving Thanks Year-Round to Our Dogs

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all the things we’re thankful for—our family and friends, and our furry family too. Dogs are more than pets, they’re beloved members of the family. Their love and companionship bring joy to our life. Let’s talk more about why we’re grateful for our four-legged family member.

Endless Love

A dog’s love for their family is pure, never-ending and without judgement. They provide unconditional love no matter what.

Best Friends Forever

Dogs are there for us during good times or bad, through thick and thin, from sunny days to rainy days. They are the best companions who are loyal and a source of comfort.

Stress-Free Friend

Whether it’s through a lick, or a snuggle, or a belly rub, dogs ease our stress and research proves it. Studies have shown that spending time with your dog can lower stress levels and reduce anxiety. Stroking their fur can release oxytocin and reduce cortisol, the stress hormone.

Fitness Friend

Dogs encourage us to get outside or to throw a ball to them. They’re a natural fitness partner, whether it’s going for a walk, playing in a park or with a ball, their choice of fun gives us an outlet for exercising too. They love it so much, it’s hard not to enjoy exercising with them too.

Protector Pup

Dogs provide a sense of security and protection. Many breeds are instinctively protective of their owners and their homes, which can offer peace of mind. Even smaller breeds can alert us to potential dangers or unwanted visitors, making us feel safer.

Listening Ears

Dogs are excellent listeners, and sometimes we all need a listening ear. Whether or not they understand every word, they’re focused on you and offer a non-judgmental presence. Sharing our thoughts with them is like a free therapy session.

Life Partner, Life Skills

Owning a dog is a commitment that teaches important life skills, such as patience and responsibility. Dogs rely on us for their well-being, and in return, they help us become more accountable, punctual, organized, and loving individuals.

Dogs need us just as much as we need them, and they truly become a part of the family. In this time of thanks, don’t forget all the reasons to love and value our dogs.
